CLK 550 vs. BMW M3 which one should I buy? (brand new or used?)?

I know on MBUSA.com is says 0-60 in 5.1, but I think it can do more with the ESP turned off. The new BMW M3 coupe says 0-60 in 4.7, but I can''t help but think that the CLK 550 is only 16pds heavier, has much more rpm's, lb-ft of hp and a much bigger engine, in theory shouldn't it be faster than this 4.7 car?|||BMW M3 (NEW)|||The fact that the CLK has more torque is what can impede it somewhat. When there is too much wheel-spin, that will cut your 0-60 time. If you want pure performance get the M3, it was designed to perform at the highest level, suspension, transmission, and engine wise. The Mercedes is meant mainly for comfort and looks. I would go with the M3, it's sexy, powerful, and a great performance car.

By the way, pounds is shortened "lbs" not "pds."|||It's about much more than 0-60. it's about how well the car is built to perform as a whole. m3's have always been the car that might give up a little in the way of power to it's competitors in order to build a more balanced driver's machine. My choice would be a '95 m3 "lightweight" for a purist driver's car, if you can find one. Next would be an 04 or 05 m3 coupe w/6 speed stick. Don't mess with the smg. You'll be looking at a massive repair bill when it breaks.

The rule of thumb is that if two cars have close performance numbers, go with the one with the smaller engine. Smaller engine= less wieght=better handling.

If memory serves me, the new e92 m3 does 0-60 in 4.3- 4.5.|||M3 for sure. Benz got alot of power but when it comes to balancing it evenly it destroys the image behind it. Benz came with c63 AGM for the answer to bmw m3. Man its a beast. But does bows down to M3.M3 got better tyranny, suspension simply its the ultimate driving machine in its class. It Reeves at eight and a half thousand rmp.Imagine driving a V8 that screams at that kind of rmp. You can also check out on youtube top gear or fifth gear review on both off these cars. Good luck.|||Does 0-60 really matter that much for you? Are you going to be driving this car on a race track regularely?

These two cars are completely different and built with different incentives. By the sound of your question I can tell that you should go with the Benz. The M3 is a car for a knowledgable driver which you are not (again...your question shows it).|||I have to agree with the majority here. Mercedes or BMW... i mean the Benz is probably VERY GOOD and the Luxury choice andmay be xhosen if thats what u want, but the new M3 is a performance machine that is just waaay comfy.

Id say flip a coin but the M3 edges it out here.

PS: Transmission gearing affects 0-60 as well.|||The BMW M3 is a beautiful car, not saying the CLK 550 isn't. I am not that familiar with Mercedes so i can't really tell you. If you're asking for my opinion i say M3. But hey, at least you're not choosing between a Toyota or a Honda.

Good Luck!|||for the 550 the 5.1 is about right thats fast. The M3 is also stick so it will be able to launch faster opposed to the automatic of the clk|||The CLK has been killed off in 2010 and is now called the E-Class coupe. The M3 is an awesome all around machine. Both on the street and on the track. I'd say pull the trigger on the M3.|||the m3 has a shorter gear ratio so it accelerates faster. it is about as fast as a clk55. get the m3 not convertible since thats for chicks|||YOU WANT AUTO(benz) or you want Manual(bmw)|||id go with the M3 its just cuz that car is bad ***!!!
