13' Boston Whaler with long shaft motor+short shaft transom?

I have heard all this will do is increase the drag due to the extra length of the motor in the water, and slow me down. I am planning on putting a 30hp long shaft on the short shaft transom. How much speed would i loose? What's a good estimate of the speed i will go? Will anything else happen?13' Boston Whaler with long shaft motor+short shaft transom?
Get the jack plate. I have seen this done before and it works fine.

It will plane without using the jack plate but you will be very disappointed in the performance and fuel consumption.13' Boston Whaler with long shaft motor+short shaft transom?
if your only option is to use a long shaft motor on you whaler, then why not add a jack plate to the transom to be able to adjust motor height for optimum running.
